
T-Mobile US has announced a new leadership team following completion of its merger with Sprint, expected by April. The new executives were announce in an email to staff, which was also filed with the SEC.
New managers include John Saw as Executive Vice President of Advanced and Emerging Technologies, reporting to president of technology Neville Ray. Saw was among the first employees at Clearwire in 2003 and joined Sprint after the takeover in 2013 to become networks head.
Abdul Saad joins the senior management ream as Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, reporting to Ray. He joined T-Mobile over 19 years ago and has helped lead network development.
Cody Sanford will serve as Executive Vice President and Chief Information and Product Officer, reporting also to Ray. He started his career at T-Mobile over 20 years ago holding a variety of leadership roles including roles in retail sales, engineering operations and technology. Sanford helped lead the integration of the MetroPCS merger. In addition to product development, Sanford and his team will continue to lead IT systems.
The new company will have three mains lines of business. Jon Freier and Mike Katz from T-Mobile will remain the respective heads of the consumer and business/wholesale divisions, while Dow Draper was named the new Executive Vice President of Emerging Products, reporting to CEO Mike Sievert.
Draper joined Sprint in 2009 serving in a number of roles, including Chief Commercial Officer, responsible for commercial strategy, including marketing and sales for the Sprint, Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile brands. His group will focus on market opportunities beyond the core smartphone business, leading T-Mobile’s expansion into home broadband video and certain IoT technologies, while also developing new business models for the company in the digital and advertising arenas, among other spaces.
Other Sprint executives joining the senior team include Deeanne King as Executive VP and Chief HR Officer. T-Mobile's acting HR head Derek Potter will return to his role as SVP Total Rewards & Employee Experience.
Sprint's former COO Nestor Cano will serve as Executive Vice President of Integration and Transformation and Strategic Advisor to the CEO.
Sunit Patel who has led the pre-merger integration program will leave the company after the deal is completed. He joined T-Mobile in 2018 from CenturyLink, where he was CFO.
