TDC completes nationwide 5G deployment in Denmark

Danish operator TDC said it completed nationwide 5G deployment in the early hours of 01 December after upgrading 3,800 mobile masts. It said this makes Denmark the first Nordic nation to have 5G service across the country. It completed the 5G roll-out ahead of expectations and raised the speed of its LTE network by almost 50 percent at the same time.

TDC said more than 50,000 people already have access to the 5G network, and approximately 1 percent of TDC Net’s total mobile traffic now runs on the new standard. To use it, customers need a 5G-compatible handset and a 5G subscription. These enable them to use 5G in 90 percent of Denmark.

TDC Net CEO Andreas Pfisterer said the 5G completion is an important milestone in view of the 35 percent to 40 percent annual rise in Danish mobile internet consumption.
