Telecom Italia teams up with Jasper, Ericsson on M2M rollout
Telecom Italia Digital Solutions, the Italian operator’s digital enterprise arm, has signed two partnership agreements with Jasper Technologies and Ericsson to create a new Machine-to-Machine (M2M) platform for Italian and international business customers. As part of the agreement Jasper’s cloud-based M2M/IoT service platform, which automates the delivery and management of mobile services to all types of connected devices, will be interconnected with Telecom Italia’s mobile network. The Italian operator selected the Jasper platform because it gives customers real-time visibility and control to launch, manage and scale their connected businesses over time. It can also be easily configured to meet the specialized requirements, processes and business models of companies in any industry. “At Telecom Italia Digital Solutions we’re seeing huge thirst among the enterprise community to join the Internet of Things movement and to scale their deployments at will,” said Luigi Zabatta, executive director of M2M & IoT services at Telecom Italia Digital Solutions. “Jasper offers the expertise, capabilities, decade-long experience and established global enterprise relationships necessary to help us and our customers achieve scalability and speed to leadership in the business of digital transformation.”

Telecom Italia Digital Solutions also plans to deploy the Ericsson Device Connection Platform (DCP) to address the B2B2C model of the connected electronic devices market. The company is hoping Ericsson’s multiplatform configuration will enable it to create dedicated M2M products intended for the automotive, connected car and manufacturing sectors, particularly with regard to smart cities, smart automation and metering. Ericsson has also been selected to support the integration of both platforms.
