The first third-party apps available are from Spanish airlines Iberia and Air Europa, football club Atletico Madrid and La Liga, with more apps from health, banking, tourism or online commerce companies currently in development. The operator said an initial 800,000 customers can now book Air Europa flights, check-in, select seats, add luggage or hire additional services such as onboard Wi-Fi using voice commands from the comfort of their sofa. The functionalities of the Iberia app are for the moment limited to destination video guides supported by real-time event information and online booking, while the Atletico and La Liga apps include match info and stats as well as highlights and other exclusive multimedia content.
Other Living Apps in development include a free training programme aimed at new digital professions called Conecta Empleo (Connect Employment) and a Spanish Royal Academy (RAE) app to promote and preserve the correct use of Spanish in technology. The company said it eventually hopes to make the applications available to all of its 6 million-plus fixed broadband customers.
