Telefonica says digital assistant Aura has 470,000 users
Telefonica announced that its digital assistant Aura has attracted 470,000 users since its launch in February. The company said the app, which allows clients to search and request content as well as change channels and consult billing using voice commands, has been well received by users. The operator is due to launch a voice-controlled physical home hub called Movistar Home in the autumn, which will include Aura's AI functionality. 

Telefonica, which has rolled out the Aura service in six of its markets worldwide, aims to build up its functionality and is in talks with Google over the possibility of making the Movistar Home and Google Home devices interoperable.

Telefonica said over half (52%) of Movistar subscribers in Spain used digital channels to liaise with the operator at least once in 2018, up over 20 percent year on year. Telefonica raises outlook as organic revenue growth improves to 2.7% in Q3

Telefonica raised its full-year outlook for organic revenue growth to around 2 percent from 1 percent, after results strengthened in the third quarter. While total revenues at the Spanish operator were down 8.3 percent year-on-year to EUR 11.699 billion, organic growth was 2.7 percent, up from 2.0 percent in the previous quarter. Growth was led by South America and the UK, while the biggest markets Spain and Brazil were also in positive territory.

Telefonica, Google in talks to integrate voice assistants

Telefonica and Google are in early talks to integrate their Movistar Home and Google Home voice-controlled digital assistants, reports website Voz Populi, citing Google Spain and Portugal enterprise director Isaac Hernandez.
