Telenet, Orange still interested in Voo takeover

Telenet is still interested in the acquisition of cable operator Voo. CEO John Porter told Belga news agency the company was "waiting on the sidelines" and watching how the "complex and opaque case" develop.

Telenet is already active in Flanders and most of Brussels and an acquisition of Voo would give the company near national coverage. The companies already cooperate on the mobile market. Porter said Telenet made a bid for Voo a year ago and has repeated this again.

A preliminary agreement for Voo to be sold to Providence Equity has been put on hold while its public holding company Enodia considers the political opposition to the secretly agreed bid.

Orange Belgium has also expressed interest in acquiring Voo. Orange CEO Michael Trabbia told the RTBF earlier in the week that the company's offer is still on the table, and represents the best offer for Voo's employees and customers.
