Telenor Sweden, Bredbandsbolaget win video piracy case
Telenor Sweden said a Stockholm court has found in favour of the company and its Bredbandsbolaget subsidiary in a video piracy case. The court ruled that internet service providers are not complicit in crime carried out on the web, and so ISPS do not have to block the sites The Pirate Bay and Swefilmer. The copyright owners that had sued Telenor and Bredbandsbolaget have said they will appeal against the ruling. Telenor Sweden's chief legal counsel, Anna Bystrom, said the company believes the Court of Appeal will find in its favour, too.

Court tells Bredbandsbolaget to block Pirate Bay, Swefilmer

The Swedish Patent and Markets Court said it has overturned a district court ruling and decided that an internet service provider must take technical steps to block customers' access to The Pirate Bay and Swefilmer via a number of domain names and website addresses. Its statement did not name the ISP, but it is clearly referring to Telenor's Bredbandsbolaget. The injunction is valid for three years and is subject to a SEK 500,000 fine and there is no possibility of an appeal.

Bredbandsbolaget awaits piracy case ruling in early 2017

Telenor subsidiary Bredbandsbolaget said the court hearing for the piracy case against it was completed in the Swedish Patent and Markets High Court on 08 December. According to an article on the portal Dagens Media, the court is expected to give its ruling at the beginning of 2017. Bredbandsbolaget said it is being sued by copyright holders for failing to block The Pirate Bay and Swefilmer.

Telenor says 82% of Swedes fear computer game addiction

Telenor Sweden said a survey carried out by Demoskop in September found that 85 percent of parents said their children play television or computer games, and 34 percent said they spent too much time doing so. At a time of year when many computer games are likely to be waiting under the Christmas tree, Telenor said 82 percent of respondents consider such games addictive and 69 percent said they are detrimental to physical activities.
