Telenor Sweden, Bredbandsbolaget win video piracy case

Friday 27 November 2015 | 20:33 CET | News
Telenor Sweden said a Stockholm court has found in favour of the company and its Bredbandsbolaget subsidiary in a video piracy case. The court ruled that internet service providers are not complicit in crime carried out on the web, and so ISPS do not have to block the sites The Pirate Bay and Swefilmer. The copyright owners that had sued Telenor and Bredbandsbolaget have said they will appeal against the ruling. Telenor Sweden's chief legal counsel, Anna Bystrom, said the company believes the Court of Appeal will find in its favour, too.

This is a shame on Sweden - one of the most developed countries in the world has the second largest rate of piracy in the world. Also note that the ISP's owner is Telenor which is majority owned by the Norwegian Government. Shame on both Sweden and Norway
