Telia CEO Dennelind to step down in 2020

Johan Dennelind has announced plans to step down as CEO of Telia Company in 2020 in order to "take on new challenges". He gave 12 months notice as required in his contract, and his exact departure date will depend on when Telia finds a successor. 

Dennelind has been President and CEO since September 2013. Telia's chair Marie Ehrling said the board regrets his decision to leave, as his "strong and brave leadership has been crucial" to the group's transformation in recent years.

Telia Company announced the start date for its new CEO Allison Kirkby will be 04 May. When Kirkby's appointment was first announced last year, a start date of Q2 2020 was given. Telia said it can now confirm that she will take up her position in May.

Du names Telia's Dennelind as new CEO from 2020

UAE operator Du has appointed industry veteran Johan Dennelind as chief executive, replacing Osman Sultan after almost fourteen years at the helm of the company. He joins from Telia, where he is currently group chief executive. Dennelind will take charge of the telecom operator in early 2020.

Telia Company names CFO Luiga acting CEO

Telia Company announced the appointment of CFO Christian Luiga as acting CEO from 12 September. He replaces Johan Dennelind, who announced in August plans to step down. Dennelind will remain available as an adviser until he leaves the company in 2020 and to assist in closing the acquisition of Bonnier Broadcasting.

Telia slows decline in underlying results in Q2, sees better second half

Telia slowed somewhat the decline in results in the second quarter compared to Q1 and said it still expects a steady improvement in the second half of the year, based on efforts launched already and planned for this autumn to stimulate sales. The company said it's also accelerating the roll-out of a new operating model successful at its Swedish business to other countries in order to support its cost-reduction efforts.

Telia to cut workforce by 10% in Norway after acquisitions, market pressure

Telia Norway has announced that it is cutting about 10 percent of its workforce following the merger with TDC Norway and Get, but also because of more general industry pressures. Telia said it will scrap about 240 positions, including both employees and consultants. Many of the reductions will involve not filling vacancies.

Telia targets 2% lower annual costs in 2019-21, raises synergy target for Norway

Telia Company announced at its Capital Markets Day plans to reduce its operational expenses of approximately SEK 24 billion by around 2 percent annually in 2019-2021 on a net basis. It said cash flow synergies from the Get and TDC acquisition in Norway will reach a full run rate of NOK 800 million by the end of 2021, up from a target of NOK 700 million previously.

Telia makes last payment to settle Uzbekistan corruption case

Telia said it has paid USD 208.5 million to the Dutch Public Prosecution Service, the last remaining amount owed in the bribery case settled in September 2017. Telia was at the time told to pay USD 965 million to settle a case with the US Department of Justice (DoJ), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Dutch Public Prosecution Service (OM). Telia to cut jobs in several countries, trade union expects at least 100 reductions in Sweden

Telia Company is planning job cuts, according to the Swedish radio news service, Ekot, citing CEO Johan Dennelind. Cutbacks will apply in several countries, including Sweden, he said. The operator has met up with Swedish trade unions this morning to discuss which areas will be affected and how many workers, and Seko union vice-chairman Hans Gustavsson said he expects at least 100 Swedish jobs to go.

Telia maintains dividend after growth in underlying EBITDA, cash flow in 2018

Telia Company reported fourth-quarter sales up 4.9 percent to SEK 22.21 billion, helped by its takeover of Get and TDC's activities in Norway from October. Service revenues in local currencies, excluding acquisitions and disposals, declined 2.5 percent, as market conditions remained difficult in its biggest market Sweden, offsetting growth in other countries. Adjusted EBITDA rose 3.3 percent to SEK 6.74 billion but was down 5.5 percent in local currencies, after adjusting for acquisitions and disposals.
