Thai court accepts CAT Telecom petition on 3G auction

Thailand's central administrative court accepted an application from CAT Telecom that could postpone the 3G auction but it rejected the request for an emergency hearing. The court will summon members of the National Telecommunications Commission board over the coming days to investigate the allegation by CAT Telecom that the NTC has no authority to hold a 3G auction and that the 3G licence auction would cause state-owned operators CAT and TOT losses of over THB 40 per year. Meanwhile, the NTC has announced that all three bidders are qualified. Three private operators will be participating: Advanced Info Service (AIS), DTAC, and TrueMove. The NTC will hold the auction for two 3G licences on 20 September.
