Thai mobile operators agree to 15% 3G price cut
The private mobile operators in Thailand have confirmed they will reduce 3G prices by 15 to 20 percent, as requested by the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC). Advanced Info Service (AIS) is planning to launch 2.1 GHz 3G services on 8 May while DTAC will follow on 9 May. TrueMove will focus mainly on its TrueMove H brand that uses 850 MHz spectrum through contracts with CAT Telecom. The regulator recently approved the proposed 3G standard service contract for the three operators with a 2.1 GHz spectrum licence. AIS said it will introduce a range of promotional packages while DTAC said it will lower prices, for data packages in particular, as per the NBTC's requirements, the Bangkok Post writes.
