Thales and Google Cloud will establish a new company based in France to offer sovereign cloud services compliant with the new 'Cloud de Confiance' (Trusted Cloud) certification, unveiled by the French government in May. The joint venture, in which Thales will be the majority shareholder, will aim to address the needs of the private and public sector for a secure and hyperscale cloud environment, providing services and infrastructure hosted in France and separate from Google Cloud’s data centres.
The joint offering will combine Google Cloud’s services with Thales' expertise in cyber security, including data encryption, identity management, and cyber threat monitoring.
The 'Cloud de Confiance' certification is an evolution of the SecNumCloud qualification process managed by French IT security agency ANSSI.
