Turk Telekom brings back Doany as CEO

Turk Telekom's board of directors appointed Boulos H.B. Doany as CEO, effective 26 September. Doany was previously CEO of Turk Telekom in the period 2006-11. In the past five years, Doany focused on the venture capital market, managing investments in early stage IT/internet companies and renewable energy. He also previously served as founding CEO of Oger Telecom, the main shareholder in Turk Telekom. 

He replaces Rami Aslan, who resigned earlier this month after serving as CEO since December 2013. In related news, Turk Telekom's Corporate Governance and Compliance Manager and member of the Corporate Governance Committee, Suleyman Kisac, decided to leave his position.

Turk Telekom promotes Onal to new CEO

Turk Telekom posts Q4 loss on higher costs, revenues up 10%

Turk Telekom Group revenues increased by 9.9 percent year-on-year to TRY 4.25 billion in Q4 2016. EBITDA improved by a slower 1.3 percent to TRY 1.43 billion, and the EBITDA margin fell to 33.8 percent from 36.6 percent in Q4 2015. Turk Telekom tries to solve shareholder debt problem

Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said it is letting state-owned Turk Telekom resolve its recent debt repayment problems on its own for now, writes Reuters. An interest payment of almost USD 300 million on a USD 4.75 billion loan was not paid by Turk Telekom's majority shareholder, Oger Telecom, at the end of September, banking and other sources have said. While the state said it was not intervening for now, it does want to ensure that its 30 percent stake in Turk Telekom will not lose value.

Turk Telekom appointed Cengiz Dogan as CTO, Sukru Kutlu as chief HR and regulation officer, and Ramazan Demir as CEO Advisor for Special Projects. Demir was previously chief regulation officer. Kutlu replaces chief HR officer Bahattin Aydin who is leaving the company.

Turk Telekom CEO resigns

Turk Telekom's CEO Rami Aslan has decided to resign, after serving as CEO since December 2013. The company did not give a reason for his departure. Aslan will continue serving in the executive committee and board of directors of Turk Telekom, in addition to his CEO and board member role at parent company Oger Telecom. He will serve as CEO at Turk Telekom until a new appointment is made.
