Turk Telekom's CEO Rami Aslan has decided to resign, after serving as CEO since December 2013. The company did not give a reason for his departure.
Aslan will continue serving in the executive committee and board of directors of Turk Telekom, in addition to his CEO and board member role at controlling shareholder Oger Telecom. He will serve as CEO at Turk Telekom until a new appointment is made.
This is the third top executive to step down at Turk Telekom since the failed coup attempt in Turkey in July. In mid-August, the company said consumer business chief Erkan Akdemir and CTO Coskun Sahin
were leaving. According to local paper Hurriyet, both executives were summoned by prosecutors to give testimony in connection with the failed coup. Turk Telekom, which is 30 percent state-owned, has sacked 290 people in total, in cooperation with the security forces it said, as part of the state crackdown following the coup attempt.
Vodafone Turkey CEO Gokhan Ogut also recently stepped down, in order to assess new career opportunities, the company said.
