Verizon launches new flexible pay-TV subscriptions

Verizon Communications is rolling out a new pay-TV plan that allows consumers to choose different bundles of channels each month, Reuters reports. The flexibility is expected to lure customers away from cable companies and over-the-top video providers. The new Custom TV plans for Fios subscribers start at USD 65 a month for broadband service, 36 basic channels and two channel packs of the customer's choosing, such as a sports bundle or kids channels. Users can add more channel packs for USD 10 each and unsubscribe to any pack after 30 days. Verizon has seven channel packs in total. "Everybody is getting into the video space... increasingly customers are saying, 'I want to pay for what I view,'" Tami Erwin, the president of Verizon's national operations told Reuters.
