Virgin Mobile starts marketing in Saudi Arabia
Virgin Mobile has launched services as a MVNO in Saudi Arabia. The company promised to change the mobile market for the benefit of consumers and wider society. Virgin Mobile was awarded a MVNO licence from the industry regulator CITC in April.

The company said 5 million prepaid recharge cards will be available across the country at launch, designed and voted for by Virgin Mobile's online member community. T-shirts and branding merchandise can be found in the retail stores throughout the country, and these were also chosen by Virgin Mobile's members using social media. Virgin Mobile worked with the online community to identify and select the Creative Collective, a group of Saudi's "coolest individuals" that will help Virgin Mobile to make mobile better by sharing their expertise in areas such as photography, film and gadgetry.

Virgin Mobile said it plans to change the way mobile is priced in Saudi Arabia. The more Virgin Mobile prepaid members use their mobiles, the less they will pay per unit of use. The starter pack for the service, prepaid and postpaid, will come with three Sims - one for a phone and two for data devices. This recognises that many Saudis use mobile services for multiple devices. The company also promises to allow customers to suspend their mobile plans when not in use.
