VodafoneZiggo offers extra data, TV for fixed-mobile subs

VodafoneZiggo has introduced its first offer for customers taking both fixed and mobile services from the operator. Vodafone mobile customers also taking Ziggo services at the same address will receive double the usual mobile data allowance, a choice of extra TV packages and a free internet security package. They must have at least one subscription to a Vodafone Scherp, Scherp, Start, Smart, Red or Black plan and a fixed contract with at least internet (minimum 30 Mbps) and TV from Ziggo.

The optional free TV plans can be changed each month and include the sport, kids or films & series packages, with the latter including exclusive HBO content. The Safe Online XL package, which normally costs EUR 6.95 per month, offers security protection for up to 20 devices.

The new options will be activated automatically for existing customers from 03 April. VodafoneZiggo said it's also working on new packages for customers. For the moment, it plans to continue to use both the Vodafone and Ziggo brands in the market.

VodafoneZiggo's "non-stop extras" are similar to rival KPN's Compleet offer, which also gives customers extra mobile data and TV packages when they combine fixed and mobile services. VodafoneZiggo still needs to catch up with KPN in the quad-play market, which is one of the main reasons driving its merger. According to research by Telecompaper, two-thirds of consumers said they would choose a quad-play package if they received extras like more mobile data, up from 44 percent two years earlier.
