
Xiaomi has announced a smart homes partnership with retailer Ikea at its AIoT Developer Conference in Beijing. Under the terms of the deal, Ikea’s full range of smart lighting products will be connected to Xiaomi’s IoT ecosystem starting this December in China. The partners said users will be able to control Ikea smart lighting devices via the Xiao Ai voice assistant and the Mi Home app after connecting to the Mi Control Hub through the ZigBee protocol.
No specific information on new products was announced but Xiaomi said its IoT platform had connected more than 132 million smart devices at the end of September and had over 20 million daily active devices in more than 200 countries and regions around the world. Its Xiaomi Xiao Ai voice assistant, meanwhile, had been activated on about 100 million devices, with monthly active users exceeding 34 million and cumulative wake-up times exceeding 8 billion.
