Chinese brand Xiaomi has signed a memorandum of understanding with Mexican telecommunications giant America Movil to expand its presence throughout Latin America via joint services, reports website Xataka Mexico, citing company sources. "We are very excited to work with America Movil for our strategic development in Mexico and Latin America,” said Xiaomi Senior Vice President Wang Xiang in a statement. Further details about the partnership will be announced in the first half of 2019, said the report, which speculates that the deal could involve services related to Xiaomi’s Mi TV app store.
The tie-up comes after Xiaomi inaugurated its second own-brand retail outlet in Mexico City in the Plaza Las Antenas shopping mall just a few weeks after opening its first sales space in the capital’s Toreo Parque Central shopping centre.
