Xiaomi to sell 90 million smartphones this year
Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi expects its smartphone shipments to reach 90 million units in 2017. These would be Xiaomi’s highest annual shipments, DigiTimes reports, citing company CEO Lei Jun. Xiaomi aims to regain the top-vendor position in China in 2020, Lei added.

Xiaomi recently launched its entry-level smartphone Redmi 5A in China. The device is available on the local market for CNY 599 (approximately USD 91). The Redmi 5A features a 5-inch 720p display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 CPU, 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera.

India's smartphone market has seen a change at the top, with Xiaomi now leading with shipments of nearly 8.2 million units in the fourth quarter of 2017. Despite annual growth of 17 percent, Samsung failed to maintain its lead, shipping around 7.3 million smartphones to take second place, according to a report from Canalys. The study also indicates that, together, the top two vendors now command more than 50 percent of the smartphone market in India, with market leader Xiaomi at 27 percent and second-place
