YouTube announced that it will increase the price of its subscription TV service by USD 5 per month to USD 40 from 13 March. The news comes as the company agreed to add new channels from Turner and further expands its availability.
Turner's channels TNT, Adult Swim, TBS, CNN, Cartoon Network, truTV and Turner Classic Movies are now included in the YouTube TV package. This brings the service to over 50 channels and also gives it key sports content on the Turner channels, such as NBA basketball, MLB Postseason games, the PGA Championship and the UEFA Champions League.
In addition, YouTube TV will soon be adding NBA TV, the league’s 24-hour network, and MLB Network, Major League Baseball’s TV network. In the coming months, customers will be able to buy additional packs such as the NBA League Pass, the league’s out-of-market live game service, or MLB.TV, the baseball streaming service, for an extra fee.
The extra channels come at a cost. New customers from 13 March will pay the higher monthly fee of USD 40 per month. Existing customers can stay on the old price of USD 35.
YouTube TV also announced that it's now available to over 85 percent of US households. The latest markets to receive the service include Lexington, Dayton, Honolulu, Richmond, Mobile, and Syracuse.
