
Verizon is expanding its partnership with Google to offer YouTube TV to more customers. After the initial offer for 5G home broadband customers, Verizon will also offer the susbcription service YouTube TV to its fixed broadband customers, in an attempt to halt the slide in video customers at its fixed business.
Verizon has been steadily losing subscribers for its Fios video service for home broadband customers, as more and more Americans opt for OTT services. The deal to resell YouTube TV gives Verizon its own OTT offering, after its earlier failed attempt to launch the go90 online video service.
YouTube TV will be offered to Verizon mobile and fixed customers, incluidng "unique, high-value" promotions across platforms, Verizon said. For Google, this represents the first major distribution deal for YouTube TV with a traditional pay-TV provider.
