ZTE confirms LTE contract with Airtel
ZTE confirmed a contract to plan, design, supply and deploy a LTE network in Kolkata, West Bengal for Bharti airtel. The Indian mobile operator is expected to launch its first LTE services in the city later this month. Further details of the contract were not announced. Airtel earlier announced a deal with Nokia Siemens Networks to deploy TD-LTE in the 2.3GHz band in Maharashtra.

Airtel taps Huawei for LTE network in Karnataka

Bharti airtel has given a contract to Huawei to design and deploy a LTE network in Karnataka, writes The Economic Times citing the mobile operator. Huawei will deliver the LTE network infrastructure and devices, under the agreement signed for an undisclosed amount. Airtel launched its first LTE services in April, and earlier announced regional equipment contracts with ZTE and Nokia Siemens Networks.

ZTE reported first-quarter revenue up 29.5 percent to USD 2.96 billion, while net profit rose 23.9 percent from a year earlier to USD 23 million. Airtel may buy Qualcomm LTE permits for INR 60 bln - report

Indian mobile operator Bharti Airtel is reportedly in advanced discussions with US chipmaker Qualcomm to buy its LTE licences for about INR 60 billion, reports The Economic Times. This acquisition would allow Airtel to launch LTE services in the markets of Delhi and Mumbai, Maharashtra. A person familiar with the development said the deal is likely to be closed by June and will be accompanied by technology agreements between Qualcomm and Airtel.

Indian operator Bharti Airtel has launched the first LTE services in the country, in Kolkata. The company announced earlier an equipment contract with ZTE for the roll-out. Indian mobile operator Bharti airtel has selected Nokia Siemens Networks to build and operate its TD-LTE network in Maharashtra, India.
