True Corp’s True Move H Universal Communication Company (TUC) unit acquired the first block of 703-713MHz for upload and 758-768MHz for download.
AIS, via its subsidiary Advanced Wireless Network (AWN) received the license to use 700MHz spectrum in the frequency range 723-733MHz paired with 778-788MHz (2x10 MHz bandwidth). The license period is 15 years starting from 1 October 2020. AIS said it also plans to collaborate with various organizations including the NBTC on research and development of 5G service and use cases.
Market competitor Dtac also confirmed it acquired 2x10 MHz of the low-band 700 MHz spectrum, which is expected to power its network coverage expansion nationwide. The new spectrum will also be used for future 5G development, Dtac said. The company will now have a downlink bandwidth of 80 MHz, out of the total 130 MHz in its current portfolio (including 2300 MHz in partnership with TOT).
Dtac’s network already covers 94 percent of Thailand’s total population, the operator added. The spectrum license cost THB 17.58 billion and is valid for 15 years starting from October 2020.
