Altice USA sees broadband customers fall by 15,000-20,000 in Q3

Altice USA expects broadband customer numbers to go down by 15,000-20,000 in the third quarter, Bloomberg reported. Speaking at a Goldman Sachs investor conference, CEO Dexter Goei attributed the “underwhelming” and disappointing results to severe weather, stricter regulations and a weaker-than-expected back-to-school season.

The company ended June with 4.647 million residential customers, from 4.648 million at end March, after losing 11,900 broadband subscribers in the second quarter. Residential broadband additions (organic) amounted to 26,000 in Q3 2020.

Goei said Altice is hoping to return to positive net additions in the fourth quarter and is targeting “triple-digit” net adds by 2023, Fierce Telecom reported. To achieve that goal, the company is aiming to improve execution and possibly speed up ongoing fibre rollouts.
