Amazon brings Prime to China

Amazon has introduced Amazon Prime in China, Bloomberg reported. The service over there will cost CNY 388 per year (USD 57), lower than the US free of USD 99.

The version of Prime in China will however not completely reflect the US version: it will not include any digital content (video, music streaming) but instead give free shipping on orders of over CNY 200 (USD 29.50) from 28 October, from a vast catalogue of overseas products.

Amazon has confirmed that its Prime Video service is now available in over 200 countries around the world. The company hinted at the plans last month at the premier of its new programme 'The Grand Tour' and has now confirmed the full streaming video service will be available, including its own original series. Amazon seeks sports rights to boost Prime offer - report

Amazon has been holding talks with major sports leagues about adding live streaming of their events to its Prime Video service, people familiar with the matter told the Wall Street Journal. Amazon launches local-store deliveries in London

Amazon said its Prime Now service in London started offering one-hour delivery of more than 7,000 products from local shops in addition to items from its own catalogue of 15,000 lines. The new service is available to selected London postcodes, costs GPB 6.99 for one-hour delivery and is free for same-day fulfilment based on a minimum GBP 20 order value.

Amazon Germany hikes price of Prime

Amazon Germany has notified customers that the cost of its premium service Prime will go up next year. As of 01 February 2017, a Prime subscription will cost EUR 69 per year for new customers, an increase of EUR 20.04 on previous rates. The new price will apply to existing customers after this date once their next payment falls due. Research by Statista from May showed that Amazon had 17 million Prime members in Germany.

Amazon heeft zijn Prime-dienst ook beschikbaar gemaakt voor de Chinese markt. De dienst kost daar 388 yuan per jaar, omgerekend zo'n 57 dollar, en daarmee ligt de prijs lager dan in de VS (99 dollar). De Chinese versie is geen kopie van het Amerikaanse aanbod en de dienst komt niet met digitale content, maar biedt wel gratis verzending bij bestellingen van 200 yuan of meer.
