Shortly after announcing its first Amazon-built smart TVs, Amazon said it has also teamed up with Pioneer and Toshiba to launch a lineup of custom 4K smart TVs featuring built-in Alexa and Fire TV software. All the units come with HDR10 and Dolby Vision and start at a price of USD 369 for the 43-inch Pioneer model. North American retailer Best Buy will be distributing the new models as well as being the official in-store ‘pick-up’ for the TVs, said Amazon.
The Pioneer series will be available in 43-inch and 50-inch models at Amazon and Best Buy. The 43-inch version will begin shipping in late September and the 50-inch will ship early November in the US and Canada. Amazon said the series will also feature picture-in-picture functionality as well as multi-room music capabilities and surround-sound experiences through DTS Virtual X together with a voice remote with Alexa.
The line of larger Amazon TVs produced by Toshiba, meanwhile, come with far-field voice natively through a built-in 4-array microphone plus motion processing and local dimming. Additional details will be announced in the coming months but Amazon said the series, expected by spring 2022, will feature 55-inch, 65-inch and 75-inch offerings.
