Apple has updated its iPad and lowered the price in an effort to expand its lead on the tablet market. The new 9.7-inch iPad comes with an enhanced retina display and will sell for USD 329, the cheapest price yet for the tablet.
Apple said this model is its most popular tablet, as consumers appreciate the large screen for watching videos or making calls. The updated device features a new Retina display with over 3.1 million pixels, aluminium unibody, iOS 10, the 64-bit A9 chip, and front and back cameras. As well as promising "all-day" battery life, the new iPad also comes with optional LTE, with a choice of global data providers over the Apple Sim.
The new iPad will be available to order from 24 March and in stores in the following week in the US and over 20 other countries. It comes in a choice of silver, gold and space grey finishes and costs USD 329 for the 32 GB Wi-Fi model and USD 459 for the LTE version.
Apple also reduced the price and increased the capacity of the iPad mini 4. The 7.9-inch tablet now starts at USD 399 for 128 GB and costs USD 529 with LTE access.
