Apple sells out iPhone 7 Plus in pre-orders
Apple announced that only limited quantities of the iPhone 7 will be available in stores on the launch date of 16 September. The company said the iPhone 7 Plus sold out in all sizes and colours during the pre-order sale and will not be available. The iPhone 7 in jet black also sold out and will not be available for walk-in customers. The company will continue to take orders for all models on its website, although customers will face a wait before the phones are delivered.

Unlike in previous years, Apple did not give an indication of initial sales of the new iPhone. The company said in a statement to Re/code that it was "now at a point where we know before taking the first customer pre-order that we will sell out of iPhone 7". The initial sales will be "governed by supply, not demand", the company said, adding that it no longer found this number a representative measure for investors or customers.
