Biden government names Easterly head of cybersecurity agency

Jen Easterly has been nominated the new head of the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency. She helped develop Biden's cyber policy during the campaign and previously worked as Deputy for Counterterrorism at the National Security Agency. Most recently she worked at Morgan Stanley since 2017 leading its cyber defense strategy.

Easterly previously served over 20 years in the US Army in intelligence and cyber operations. Responsible for standing up the Army’s first cyber battalion, Easterly helped create the US Cyber Command.

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency is an independent body under the Department of Homeland Security. Biden also named Chris Inglis as the National Cyber Director in the Executive Office of the President.

Inglis served over 40 years at the Department of Defense, including 7.5 years as deputy director of the National Security Agency. Most recently he is a professor in cyber studies at the US Naval Academy and managing director of Paladin Capital.
