The Ubuntu Edge offers the features of both a smartphone and PC, Canonical said. It can dual-boot the Ubuntu phone OS and Android and transform into a PC when docked with a monitor. To support the power of a PC, the Ubuntu Edge will be equipped with the "latest, fastest components", including at least 4 GB RAM, 128GB storage and a quad-core processor.
The device will come with a 4.5-inch Sapphire crystal screen to prevent scratches and cracking, use long-life silicon anode battery technology and come with dual-band LTE to support use in both Europe and the US. It will be able to connect to a monitor or TV over HDMI, as well as support Wi-Fi, NFC and Bluetooth.
