Comcast announced plans to launch a new on-demand movies service called Hitz. The ad-free service will replace Cinemax and its channels on the cable platform's Xfinity Premier, Super and certain other TV packages, at no extra cost.
Hitz will feature a rotating selection of more than 200 movies from a variety of top studios. Comcast said the selection will complement the films already available to Xfinity Premier and Super TV customers on other channels.
The operator will still offer a separate subscription to Cinemax, for USD 12 per month. Comcast said most of the movies on Cinemax have also aired on HBO, and by offering Hitz instead, customers will receive a better variety of content.
