
Comcast has confirmed plans to brings its TV service to smart TVs. The partnership starts with Hisense, which will offer a customised smart TV to access Comcast services, even outside the cable operator's network footprint. The platform is based on Comcast’s XClass TV operating system, which is already used to power its in Xfinity video services.
Comcast said XClass TV will offer consumers an "affordable and innovative" smart TV, with an integrated interface and voice remote to access a range of live and on-demand streaming content from hundreds of apps and services. The first XClass TVs from Hisense are available this week in select Walmart stores and in the coming weeks through Walmart.com.
The launch follows Comcast’s recent introductions of Sky Glass, a new smart TV available in the UK, and XiOne, a new global streaming box, which are all built on Comcast’s global technology platform. Comcast’s platform delivers nearly five billion entertainment streams per week to customers across Comcast, Sky and its syndication partners and already powers more than 75 million Comcast entertainment and connectivity devices.
The Hisense XClass TVs are available in 43- and 50-inch models, supporting 4K Ultra HD, HDR10 and Dolby Vision HDR and Atmos. They come with a remote control powered by Comcast’s voice technology. The Walmart website lists the 43-inch model at a price of USD 298.
All customers receive a one-year subscription to Comcast's Peacock Premium streaming service included free. Other apps on the TV include Netflix, HBO Max, Hulu, Disney+, Prime Video and YouTube.
