Deutsche Telekom said it has expanded its partnership with the RTL Group to accelerate the growth of streaming platforms in Germany. Under the agreement, Telekom will bundle RTL's subscription streaming service TVNow Premium with the telecom operator's MagentaTV service.
TVNow Premium normally costs EUR 4.99 per month and offers viewers 14 live TV channels from RTL, as well as the on-demand programmes from RTL and VOX. The RTL service will be included in the new MagentaTV Smart and MagentaTV Smart Flex subscriptions from Telekom. Together the two services offer over 60,000 hours of programs. MagentaTV Smart starts at EUR 9.75 per month for around 100 channels and three simultaneous users.
Moreover, the companies have agreed to expand their collaboration in the field of technology, marketing and content. They will work on developing the market of addressable advertising. Telekom and RTL want to develop joint solutions for advertising via MagentaTV for targeted groups. The RTL group will contribute to the effort with its expertise in the field of advertising technology through its own Smartclip platform, combining linear television with the targeted advertising. In addition to MagentaTV, Telekom also provides knowledge in the field of data intelligence and security through the subsidiary Emetriq.
