
Deutsche Telekom has extended the contract of CEO Tim Hoettges for another five years. Hoettges took up the position in 2014 and has since "led Deutsche Telekom back to a growth path and to the position of leading European telco", said chairman Ulrich Lehner.
The company also announced that chief HR officer Christian Illek will become CFO of the group from January 2019. The present CFO, Thomas Dannenfeldt has decided to leave the company for private reasons at the expiry of his contract by the end of the year.
Illek became CHRO in April 2015. Prior to that he was chairman of Microsoft Germany and from April 2010 to September 2012, director of marketing at Telekom Deutschland. He was also in charge of the Wholesale Center and the Value-Added Services Center, as well as international product development for Deutsche Telekom's fixed-network, IPTV, convergent and business customer portfolio. Before joining the T-Home management board at the beginning of 2007 and serving as marketing director at T-Mobile from May 2009, Illek held various management positions at Bain & Company and Dell, in both Germany and Switzerland.
No decision has been taken yet on a successor of Illek.
