Dialog Semiconductor ends talks to acquire Synaptics

Dialog Semiconductor said it has ended talks to acquire Synaptics. The two makers of smartphone components did not say why they had ended the negotiations, first announced in June. 

Synaptics suggested it had other suitors, noting in a statement that "interest by a number of industry players underscores the tremendous value inherent to our company". Nevertheless, the company said it's "well-positioned to continue as a standalone growth company". Synaptics added that it expects to report 09 August EPS for the latest quarter at the high end of its guidance.

Dialog Semiconductor said it will be the first in the industry to demonstrate Stereo High Fidelity (HiFi) quality audio streaming over Bluetooth low energy (BLE) at this year's Bluetooth World event in Santa Clara, California. Chipmaker Dialog Semiconductor, which recently ended talks to acquire Synaptics, reported second quarter revenues up 16 percent year on year to USD 296 million, boosted by growth from all operational segments and the contribution from Silego Technology, acquired in October 2017 for USD 276 million. Dialog Semiconductor confirms interest in Synaptics, starts due diligence

Following reports that chipmaker Dialog Semiconductor was in talks to acquire US touchpad technology maker Synaptics, Dialog has confirmed that it's starting due diligence proceedings.
