Dutch broadcasters plan subscription VoD service NLziet
The Dutch public and private broadcasters have united to offer their own portal for streaming video content. NPO, RTL and SBS will launch in early 2014 NLziet, a joint subscription service to their on-demand platforms NPO Plus, RTL XL and Kijk. Users will be able to watch films and series for up to a year after broadcast, with no advertising, and some shows will be available for preview before broadcast.

While they have set a joint landing page with a single log-in, each will maintain its own VoD platform for delivering the content to end-users. Users will be able to access the programming over tablet, smartphone, PC and connected TVs, although in the initial launch period only PC access will be possible. The exact launch date and pricing will be announced at a later date.

The broadcasters said they are open to other content providers joining the platform, and they plan to distribute the subscription service through third-party TV providers.
