Ericsson acquires Kathrein's antenna, filters ops
Ericsson has acquired the antenna and filters business of German antenna manufacturer Kathrein. No financial details were provided about the deal, which is expected to close in the third quarter, subject to the usual conditions and approvals. Ericsson only noted that the operations reported revenues in 2018 of USD 270 million, excluding sales to Ericsson itself. 

The move is in line with Ericsson’s strategy to increase investments in 5G antenna technology. The company will be getting about 4,000 professionals from Kathrein, which was founded in 1919 and is headquartered in Rosenheim. The employees, specialised in R&D, production and sales, are based in over 20 locations, including Germany, Romania, the US, Mexico and China. 

Kathrein’s operations will be added as a separate unit in Business Area Networks and get reported in Segment Networks, with a positive contribution expected for 2020 profitability targets.

Ericsson raises dividend 50% as profits improve, margins on track

Ericsson announced a 50 percent increase in its dividend to SEK 1.50 per share, after reporting full-year results it says are on track to meet its medium and long-term targets. For the fourth quarter, the company posted sales up 4 percent to SEK 66.4 billion, and the adjusted operating margin more than doubled to 9.7 percent, close to its target of 10 percent for 2020.

Kathrein completes sale of antenna and filter business to Ericsson

The German manufacturer of antenna systems Kathrein said that it has completed the sale of its mobile communication antenna and filter business to Ericsson. The company announced the divestment, which received all the necessary regulatory approvals, on 25 February.

Kathrein opens new factory in Timisoara

German company Kathrein opened a new factory in Timisoara, Romania, that will produce telecommunication antennas and systems that will be marketed both locally and internationally, according to local publication Profit.ro. Ericsson to outsource RAN software R&D in Lviv to Tieto

Tieto and Ericsson agreed that all Ericsson's Radio Access Networks (RAN) software R&D activities in Lviv, Ukraine will be transferred to Tieto. Ericsson returns to profit in Q1 as organic sales growth strengthens to 7%

Ericsson reported a further strengthening in sales growth in the first quarter, with revenues up 7 percent on an organic basis compared to 4 percent in the previous quarter, thanks to expansion in the North American market.
