Google has started rolling out the latest version of the Android mobile operator system to its own Nexus devices. First previewed in March, Android 7.0 Nougat comes with over 250 major features, Google said.
These include more power saving with an enhanced 'Doze' feature, the Vulkan 3D rendering API for more vivid gaming and Google’s platform for mobile virtual reality, Daydream. New productivity features include Multi-window to run two apps side-by-side in resizable windows, Direct Reply to notifications without having to open the app and Quick Switch to switch between the two most recently used apps by double tapping the Overview button.
Android 7.0 will roll out in the coming weeks to the Nexus 6, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9, Nexus Player, Pixel C and the General Mobile 4G (Android One) as an over-the-air software update. LG will be the first manufacturer to introduce a phone with Nougat, on the upcoming LG V20.
