HTC chair Wang to take over as CEO
HTC Chairwoman Cher Wang is replacing Peter Chou as CEO. Chou, who also held the title of president, will take a new role as head of the HTC Future Development Lab, HTC said. He has been with the Taoyuan-based company since its founding 18 years ago and was promoted to president in 2004. 

Wang told Bloomberg in an interview that she felt best-placed to take over the job. "I know the company, I know the people, and I have the vision," Wang, 56, said. "I think I am the best candidate. I suggested it."

HTC introduces connected car platform

HTC unveiled Customer-Link, a new platform for the connected car developed with Volkswagen Taiwan. The Customer-Link Bridge is a vehicle performance measurement system designed by HTC. It comes with the Customer-Link smartphone app that connects to Volkswagen's cloud-based customer relationship management services. Customer-Link works with both Android and iOS mobile devices, on all Volkswagen vehicles sold in Taiwan. The Customer-Link Bridge will be pre-installed in all new cars sold from May 2016.

HTC posts net loss of TWD 8 bln in Q2

HTC reported a net loss of TWD 8.0 billion in the second quarter, versus a profit of TWD 2.3 billion a year earlier, hurt by a sharp fall in sales and an asset impairment charge of TWD 2.9 billion. HTC said it suffered from weak demand at the high end of the Android smartphone market as well as lower-than-expected sales in China. Revenues nearly halved, to TWD 33.0 billion from TWD 65.1 billion a year ago. The gross margin dropped to 19.3 percent from 22.2 in the year-earlier period and 19.7 in Q1 this year

HTC posts Q1 profit, revenues up in line with outlook

HTC reported first-quarter net profit of TWD 0.36 billion, reversing a loss of TWD 1.88 billion a year earlier. The smartphone maker's revenues rose to TWD 41.52 billion from TWD 33 billion a year ago, just meeting its outlook for sales of TWD 41.5-45 billion in the quarter. According to the preliminary figures, operating profit improved to TWD 0.02 billion compared to a loss of TWD 1.88 billion in Q1 2014. A full quarterly report will be released at a late date.

HTC sees annual revenue growth continuing in Q1

Smartphone maker HTC forecast a sequential slowdown in results in the first quarter. The company expects revenue of TWD 41.5-45 billion, versus TWD 47.9 billion in the fourth quarter. HTC Q4 sales top expectations

HTC reported fourth-quarter revenues of TWD 47.87 billion, up from TWD 42.89 billion a year earlier and at the top of the company's forecast range. The smartphone maker showed a steady improvement in sales over the quarter, with December sales increasing 22 percent year-on-year to TWD 15.2 billion. The quarterly operating result improved to a profit of TWD 0.18 billion versus a loss of TWD 1.56 billion a year ago. The company also booked a net profit of TWD 0.47 billion, up from TWD 0.31 billion in Q4 2013.

The past year was relatively good for HTC. The Taiwan-based company manage to grow its revenues with the launch of the HTC One M8, as well as return to a small profit.
