HTC returns to Indian market with Wildfire X smartphone

HTC has announced its return to the Indian smartphone market with the new Wildfire X smartphone. The phone comes with a 6.2-inch HD+ waterdrop display, triple back camera and up to 128 GB internal storage. It will go on sale from 22 August starting at INR 10,999 for the 3 GB/32 GB version and INR 13,999 for 4 GB/128 GB. 

The phone runs Android 9.0 and an octa-core Mediatek processor and comes with a 3,300 mAh battery with 10W fast charging. The back camera features 12, 5 and 8 megapixel sensors with bokeh effect and 2x optical zoom, and the Wildfire has an 8-megapixel front camera and card slot for up to 256 GB additional storage.

HTC said revenues for its fourth quarter sank to TWD 1.81 billion, from 4.4 billion the year before and 2.5 billion in the previous quarter. HTC narrows losses in Q2 after launch of 5G hub, VR services

HTC reported revenues of TWD 2.8 billion for the second quarter, less than half the TWD 6.8 billion recorded a year earlier. However, the company said its gross margin continued to improve, reaching 20.3 percent compared to 14.7 percent in Q1, and the operating loss reduced to TWD 2.5 billion from TWD 2.7 billion in the previous quarter.

Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC has stopped selling its phones in the UK as the result of an ongoing parent dispute with German intellectual property management and patent licensing company IPCom, reports BBC News.
