HTC, Under Armour unveil UA HealthBox

HTC has unveiled a new product from its wearables partnership with Under Armour. The UA HealthBox is a "connected fitness system" that measures, monitors and manages key health elements such as sleep, fitness, activity and nutrition. Designed and manufactured by HTC and powered by the UA Record cloud system, UA HealthBox includes a fitness band, heart rate monitor and a smart scale that all connect with UA Record to provide insights into the user's health. The new UA Record app is available for download for Android and Apple devices.

The UA Band is designed to be worn all-day, every day. It tracks daily activity, workouts and sleep and allows users to set daily goals and check their progress. The UA Band features a seamless exterior shell with a display hidden under an outer layer, allowing the technology to disappear when it is not in use. Designed with athletes in mind, the band offers an advanced workout mode with a display that stays on during the workout, as well as a LED that indicates heart rate when paired with the UA Heart Rate monitor.

The monitor comes with a "micro snap" technology designed to make it undetectable during workouts. The chest strap and removable sensor help individuals monitor intensity during their training and calculate calories burned. Combined with the UA Record app, the UA Heart Rate allows the user to customize heart rate zones. The UA Scale is a Wi-Fi enabled scale to take weight and body fat percentage readings. The scale can support up to eight users and syncs with the UA Record app for user to view trends.

The UA HealthBox will launch 22 January in the US and will cost USD 400. UA HealthBox will roll out internationally throughout 2016.
