Huawei files lawsuit against FCC ban on supplying state-funded networks

Huawei has filed a lawsuit in US federal court challenging the FCC's decision to exclude the Chinese company from state-funded networks. The lawsuit filed in the US Court of Appeals asked for a review of an FCC ruling last year that the company poses a national security threat, the Wall Street Journal reports.

As a result of the FCC decision, American telecom operators that accept government subsidies may not use Huawei equipment for their networks. The US Congress recently approved funds to help the operators replace existing Chinese equipment.

Huawei’s lawsuit claims that the FCC exceeded its authority with the decision, which was "arbitrary, capricious, and an abuse of discretion, and not supported by substantial evidence". The agency didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment on the lawsuit.
