Huawei sues InterDigital over unfair licensing terms

InterDigital announced that Huawei has filed a patent infringement suit against the company in China. This follows the expiry of InterDigital's licence agreement with Huawei at the end of 2018. 

In a regulatory filing, InterDigital said the civil complaint was filed on 02 January by Huawei in the Shenzhen Intermediate People’s Court. The complaint seeks a ruling that InterDigital violated an obligation to licence its patents essential to the 3G, 4G and 5G standards on fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory terms and conditions. Huawei also wants the court to set terms for Huawei to license Interdigital's Chinese standards-essential patents for its phones and other devices.

Huawei claims over USD 1 bln from Verizon in patent dispute - report

Huawei is seeking over USD 1 billion from Verizon Communications to settle a patent licensing dispute, a person familiar with the matter told Reuters. The carrier should pay licensing fees for more than 230 of its patents, according to the claim.

Huawei, ZTE face German sales injunction over AVC patent infringement

Huawei and ZTE may be forced to withdraw devices from sale in Germany after holders of video patents moved to enforce an injunction against the Chinese companies for infringing patents. MPEG LA, the patent pool for multiple companies involved in licensing the AVC/H.264 standard, said that two of its members have enforced verdicts of injunction in the district court of Duesseldorf against Huawei Deutschland and ZTE Deutschland.

Nokia, Huawei enter patent licence agreement

Nokia announced a multi-year patent licence agreement with Huawei. While details of the licence agreement remain confidential, Nokia said it will follow its existing practices for disclosing patent licensing revenue in its quarterly financial reports.
