
Both Actility and KPN are founding members of the LoRa alliance, aimed at developing a global standard for long range low power (LoRa) connectivity to enable the Internet of Things, M2M, smart city and industrial applications. As previously communicated, KPN plans to introduce LoRa in the Netherlands before the end of the year.
Foxconn’s European venture capital partner Ginko Ventures was the lead investor on Actility’s financing round totalling USD 25 million. Orange and Swisscom also participated, as well as existing investors Fonds Ecotechnologies managed by Bpifrance Investissement, Idinvest Partners and Truffle Capital. Actility said the investment will allow the company to accelerate its go-to-market strategy for ThingPark, its open-standard IoT network platform. ThingPark is a Low Power Wide Area (LPWA) radio network designed to enable IoT services for any market sector, offering ready-to-go IoT connectivity plus a full set of ready-to-sell applications in less than a month.
