Microsoft expands xCloud mobile gaming preview to 11 countries in Europe

Microsoft has expanded early access to its xCloud online gaming service to western Europe. After starting the public preview of the streaming service last year in the US, UK and Korea, the company is opening up Project xCloud to another 11 European countries. The service allows users to play console games from the cloud using an Android phone or tablet. 

In light of the pressure on telecom networks from the Covid-19 situation, Microsoft said it will take a measured approach to help conserve internet access. The preview will begin in each new market with a limited number of people, adding more participants over time.

The 11 countries where the preview is now available are Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland,. Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain and Sweden. Interested participants can sign up online for an invitation.

The HomePlay subscription for existing Drei customers, instead, costs EUR 9.99 per month.

Microsoft talks industrial edge computing, AI, IoT at Hannover trade fair

Microsoft said it is showing the industrial use of its technologies for the Internet of Things (IIoT), edge computing, automation and artificial intelligence (AI), and mixed reality at the Hannover Messe from 12-16 April. Over 20 of Microsoft's customers and partners provide insights into their collaboration with Microsoft and will demonstrate how they develop products digitally, make supply chains more resilient, set up agile production processes and secure network systems.

Microsoft expands partnership with SAP for integrated services

Microsoft said it has signed a partnership agreement with SAP to integrate Microsoft Teams with services such as SAP S/ HANA, SAP SuccessFactors and SAP Customer Experience. The companies will provide integrated products from mid-2021. They are expanding the partnership that began in 2019 in order to introduce new services in the field of cloud automation and to integrate SAP S/4HANA enterprise resource planning for business operations with Microsoft Azure.

Microsoft has expanded its cloud offering in Germany to support Power Apps, Power Automate and Power BI. In addition, Azure Availability Zones in the Germany West Central region will be available for customers in January 2021, and Microsoft will add cloud regions in Germany to supply Microsoft 365 Multi-Geo-Customers from 01 October.

Microsoft's xCloud game streaming service goes live with 150 games

Microsoft's xCloud game streaming service went live on 15 September in 22 countries with an initial offer of over 150 games. Also marketed as cloud gaming with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, the service is offered to new members for USD 1 for the first month and USD 14.99 per month after that.

Microsoft adds xCloud streaming service to Xbox Game Pass

Microsoft announced that it will offer its xCloud streaming service to subscribers of the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate service from September, at no extra cost. These means subscribers will be able to stream over 100 Xbox Game Pass titles on their phone or tablet, in addition to playing on the Xbox console.

SK Telecom, Microsoft expand Project xCloud Preview in South Korea

South Korean operator SK Telecom and Microsoft have announced they will expand Project xCloud Preview on the local market, inviting more players to participate, adding new games, and delivering the Microsoft Game Streaming app via the One Store starting 21 January. Microsoft's Project xCloud game streaming service is designed to allow gamers to play Xbox games directly from the cloud on mobile devices while connected to the internet. Project xCloud is supported by SK Telecom's 5G network.
