Microsoft unveils new Surface Go, its smallest and cheapest tablet yet
Microsoft has unveiled its latest Surface Go tablet. With a recommended retail rate of USD 399, Microsoft said the tablet is its smallest and most affordable Surface yet. The device weighs 1.15 pound and is 8.3 mm thin, with a 10 inch screen and a PixelSense Display that supports a Surface Pen with 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity. The idea is for note taking with the screen to feel natural and intuitive. The tablet with Wi-Fi will be available for pre-order on 10 June and in store on 2 August in a number of countries. An LTE model will come out later this year.

The new Surface Go is powered by the 7th Generation Intel Pentium Gold Processor 4415Y, in a fanless design, with up to nine hours of battery. It featuresa Windows Hello camera and secure sign-in using face recognition. It has different ports, including Surface Connect for charging and docking; USB-C 3.1 for data, video, and charging; a headphone jack; and a MicroSD card reader for storage expansion.

There is also a new Surface Go Signature Type Cover, custom-made for the Surface Go, so that typing can be ergonomic. The accessory supports five-point multi-finger gestures and can connect to the Surface mouse. The tablet also sports a built-in kickstand with full friction hinge that extends to 165 degrees.

The Surface Go will initially come out in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Poland, Italy, Portugal, and Spain. It will become available soon in Japan, Singapore, Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, and in China, with more markets to follow.
