Millicom said it has reached an agreement to roll out Amazon Prime Video Mobile Edition, a new mobile only service, to Tigo customers throughout Latin America. The service gives customers the ability to access the entire Prime Video catalogue through their prepaid plan without having to use their credit card. They can also pay as they go, removing any subscription commitments and allowing them to sign up for as little as one week, said Millicom, adding that it’s the first mobile operator in Latin America to introduce the service.
Amazon Prime Video Mobile Edition will launch in Guatemala this month before being rolled out to the remaining Tigo mobile operations in Latin America. The service enables customers to enjoy the complete catalogue of series and movies on Prime Video, as well as download their favourite shows to watch anytime without an internet connection. In addition, customers will be able to obtain Amazon Prime Video Mobile Edition packages in more than 300,000 points of sale throughout Latin America and via all Tigo digital channels.
Millicom and Amazon previously partnered on a deal to offer Amazon Prime Video to Tigo customers at heavily discounted rates following 3-month free trials.
