Orange launches FTTH network in Spain

Orange has commercially launched its FTTH network in Spain. The service is currently available in the La Vaguada area in the Spanish capital of Madrid. The network also covers select areas in the neighbourhoods of Retiro, Montecarmelo, Sanchinarro, Chamberi and Vicalvaro in Madrid. Over the next 12 months, Orange plans to extend its FTTH coverage to 400,000 buildings.

Orange will share the FTTH network with Vodafone, based on a joint FTTH deployment agreement signed on 13 March.

Orange has also introduced a tariff plan offering for its FTTH subscribers. For a monthly fee of EUR 25.95 (line fee not included) the package includes FTTH internet connection with speeds of up to 100 Mbps, unlimited voice calls to national fixed-line numbers, 1,000 minutes for fixed-to-mobile calls, and 300 minutes for international calls to up to 60 fixed-line numbers per month. Customers who opt for internet speeds of 25 Mbps will be charged EUR 15.95 per month.
