Orange mulls acquisition of TDF – report

Orange is looking at ways to build up Totem, the spin-off of its mobile towers businesses in France and Spain, and is studying a possible acquisition of infrastructure operator TDF as part of this review, according to information gathered by Les Echos. The unnamed sources, who confirmed what was first disclosed by L'Express, said that TDF’s owners are not engaged in a sale process, but Orange is considering the move as a way to expand Totem's towers footprint.

One of the sources described the acquisition project as being very complicated, citing an examination from competition regulators as one of the potential hurdles.

TDF's owners reportedly tried to sell the company in 2019, holding talks with Bouygues subsidiary Axione over a possible deal. According to Les Echos, they abandoned the talks after failing to attract high enough bids.

TDF owners in talks with Axione over possible sale - report

The owners of French infrastructure operator TDF are in talks with Bouygues subsidiary Axione over a possible sale of the business, according to information gathered by BFM. TDF's main shareholders are Brookfield Infrastructure and APG Asset Management, each with a 45 percent stake, alongside Credit Agricole Assurances, with the remaining 10 percent. Earlier this year, they reportedly hired Morgan Stanley and BNP Paribas to find a buyer for the operator, in a deal expected to be worth over EUR 3.5 billion.
