TDF owners in talks with Axione over possible sale - report

The owners of French infrastructure operator TDF are in talks with Bouygues subsidiary Axione over a possible sale of the business, according to information gathered by BFM. TDF's main shareholders are Brookfield Infrastructure and APG Asset Management, each with a 45 percent stake, alongside Credit Agricole Assurances, with the remaining 10 percent. Earlier this year, they reportedly hired Morgan Stanley and BNP Paribas to find a buyer for the operator, in a deal expected to be worth over EUR 3.5 billion.

Among its key assets, TDF owns 13,900 towers and rooftop sites. It is also deploying five public initiative fibre networks in French rural areas, located in Val d'Oise, Yvelines, Indre-et-Loire, Loir-et-Cher and Maine-et-Loire.

Axione recently strengthened its ties with investment firm Mirova to create CityFast, a new venture that secured a tender from Bouygues Telecom to bring FTTH connectivity to millions of premises in French urban areas. Following this move, Mirova has acquired a 49 percent stake in Axione, which is majority owned (51%) by Bouygues through its construction division Bouygues Energies & Services.
